In 2005, Affiliated Pediatrics was honored to receive the prestigious "PCHI Nesson Award for Excellence" - for implementation of our Patient Experience Improvement Program, and again in 2007 for their Obesity Management Program.
As well, for the 5th year in a row, APP received the "HPHC Honor Role With Distinction." APP scored higher than the HEDIS National 90th Percentile for all 5 pediatric measures.

Shelly Bernstein, MD, PhD and APP President was awarded the 2004 Partners Community HealthCare, Inc. (PCHI) Samuel O. Thier, M.D. Physician Leadership Award recognizing a PCHI physician whose qualities inspire others and who leads by example. In addition, APP recently received the Nesson Award for Excellence for the development of an Asthma Disease Management Program, which Dr. Bernstein developed and oversees. He was a founding member and President of the Tufts Affiliated Health Plan IPA at Children’s Hospital, and serves on the Central Physicians Committee and Overseers Committee for Tufts Associated Health Maintenance Organization, Inc. He served on the Physicians Liaison and Pediatric Advisory Committees for Blue Cross of Massachusetts.

In recognition
of Excellence in Preventive and Chronic Illness Care for Pediatric Patients.
Affiliated Pediatric
Practices was named to this Honor Role which recognizes physician groups
that have achieved exceptionally high scores for measures of clinical
quality encompassing both disease prevention and the treatment of chronic
illness. Harvard Pilgrim selected physician groups for its Honor Role
based on clinical performance against national HEDIS quality benchmarks.
HPHC identified practices whose performance exceeded
the national 90th percentile
on a majority of performance scores as reported by the National Committee
for Qualtiy Assurance.

Established in 2000, the prestigious Nesson Award is presented in honor of H. Richard Nesson, MD, the founding father of Partners Community HealthCare, Inc. (PCHI), who conceived the idea of PCHI as a means to integrate and manage patient care.
The awards recognize programs that exemplify PCHI's best practices and its mission to enhance both the physician-patient relationship and the physician experience through innovation in medical practice and collaboration among physicians and medical centers in pursuit of excellence.
Awards were presented in three categories – collaboration, innovation and excellence, and Affiliated Pediatric Practices was celebrated for its excellence in their highly successful and innovative Asthma Disease Management Program.
